Spirit Day 2011
If you’re reading this on October 20th, 2011, you’ll probably notice something a little
different about the site. Fat Guy is joining with millions of others to celebrate Spirit Day
Millions of Americans wear purple on Spirit Day as a sign of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth and to speak out against bullying. Spirit Day was started in 2010 by teenager Brittany McMillan as a response to the young people who had taken their own lives. Observed annually on October 20, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, media professionals and celebrities wear purple, which symbolizes spirit on the rainbow flag. Getting involved is easy — participants are asked to simply “go purple” on October 20 as we work to create a world in which LGBT teens are celebrated and accepted for who they are. Â Â - www.gladd.org/spiritday
As someone who was picked on in school, I can completely relate to the plight of the countless LGBT kids who are targeted daily by bigoted bullies. I was a kid with a pretty extroverted personality and a tough enough exterior that I could combat the taunting, but there are many out there unable to protect themselves from bigotry.
Please show your support, not just today, but every day and support equal rights and kind, civilized treatment of all. Learn more about how you can get involved here
Put on your finest…it’s award show season
Well folks, it’s time for season one to begin winding down. This week, episode seven comes out and then it’s just two more. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support and feedback. Now that the season is out, it’s time to spread the word and make Fat Guy a household name.
We have the opportunity to compete for some awards and get some major visibility. Fat Guy will be submitting for nominations in several categories for the International Academy of Web Television Awards in January, but we need your help. Like most festivals, this one has a fee for submissions. I funded season one of Fat Guy entirely out of my own pocket and now the coffers are a little low. We need your help to get exposure at the festivals. Continue reading
Tell Us What You Think
Well folks, we’re almost halfway through the season and I couldn’t be happier with the response from everyone. I’d like to take some time to get some feedback specifically about the show and hear what you like, don’t like, want to see more of, less of, etc. Continue reading
Art Imitating Life – A True Story
As artists, we creative types draw upon a strange stew of ideas to express our stories. That stew is a mixture of both the inventive (and usually bizarre in my case) and true life. For any of you watching Fat Guy and upon seeing episode 4 are thinking to yourselves; “self, this is completely insane”. Well, you’d be wrong.
The man in question shall remain nameless (primarily because it was years ago and I can’t remember his name). While the outcome of Greg and Caskey’s date will be completely different, its beginnings originate from a very real place. Continue reading
